About

The Eastern Slavic Countries Regional Association of the International musicological society (IMS) in collaboration with the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory organizes the Inaugural session of the Union of Young Scientists at the Regional Association for Eastern Slavic Countries IMS. The Session is to be held on November 14–16, 2019 within the framework of the VIII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The Union of Young Scientists at the IMS Regional Association for Eastern Slavic Countries was established in January 2019 on the initiative of the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the St. Petersburg Conservatory Mikhail Tchernigovskiy under the patronage of the Chairman of the IMS Regional Association, Vice-Rector for Scientific work of the St. Petersburg Conservatory Natalia Braginskaya. The Union operates on the basis of the Council of Young Scientists of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Establishment of the Union is inspired by the aim of increase of experience exchange between young scientists of regional musicological circles with international professional community.

The Session will include a Plenary Panel, a Round table discussion “Actual problems of modern musical theater” and concert program.

Plenary Panel

As part of the discussion, the Panel will consider the following questions:

·         International scientific cooperation of young researchers in the field of musical art;
·         Music science and interdisciplinary research: integration perspectives;
·         Ways to develop personnel potential in the field of humanities.

Round table discussion “Actual problems of modern musical theater”
(dedicated to the Year of Theater in Russia)

Suggested thematic areas:

·         Modern music theater: directions, genres, personalities;
·         Opera in the 21st Century: constants and metamorphosis of the genre;
·         Modern opera direction: pro et contra;
·         Problems of perception and interpretation of musical and theatrical works of the XXI century;
·         Modern musical theater as a sociocultural phenomenon;
·         The economic problems of the musical theater of our time;
·         Actual issues of training artists of musical theater.

Students, bachelors, masters, graduate students, applicants, young scientists, lecturer and representatives of educational and scientific institutions (up to 40 years) are invited to participate. To participate in the Session it is necessary to send the application and theses of your report by August 20, 2019 (incl.). All of the documents should be sent only by the system of electronic registration means. The application process is carried out on the scientific and educational portal “Lomonosov” (https://lomonosov-msu.ru/eng/event/5740/). The applications sent by post or e-mail will not be considered.

The standards of reports' theses: 

1.      Only the text of theses is inserted into a window of addition of theses. There is no need for specifying any personal information. The data is already automatically created from your application. 

2.      Volume of theses: 1 pages, Times New Roman font, size 12, line spacing 1,5.  

3.      The list of the used literature is typed in alphabetical order by last name of author: Russian literature first, then foreign literature and websites. 

Attention! Do not number the items when uploading theses through the system for automatic prototyping. The system does it automatically after saving the theses. Transition to a new point of the list is made by pressing of Enter. 

4.      It is necessary to attach a photo of a good resolution (at least 1MB) and a short biography (up to 100 words) to the application.

Session working languages – English, Russian. Speaking time: 15 minutes for presentation, 5 minutes for discussion. You can display presentations, audio and video files. The organizing committee reserves the right to select competitive reports. All speakers are issued a certificate of participation in the Session.

The Session provides a format of participation as the audience. For this purpose you should register on the scientific and educational portal “Lomonosov” (https://lomonosov-msu.ru/eng/event/5740/). The registration period is scheduled from September 1 to November 1, 2019.

Cost of participation

No admission fee is required to participate in the Session. Travel and accommodation expenses are under responsibility of the contributing Party; accommodation in a dormitory of the St. Petersburg Conservatory can also be considered.
