The Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (Ukraine) has the honor to invite teams from different universities of Europe and near-European region to participate in the 2011-2012 Central and Eastern European Rounds of the 16th Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition to be hosted by our Institute (oral rounds to be held in January 2012 in Kyiv, Ukraine).
This Competition is annually organized by the Stetson University College of Law (Gulfport, FL, USA) under the auspices of the International Law Student Association (ILSA).
It offers an out-standing chance to unite students interested in international environmental law throughout the world. In particular, previous years’ regional rounds were held in India, Latin America, Australia, South-Eastern Asia, North America, Africa etc.
Those students whose major subject is international law (or law) are eligible to participate in a team to be composed of at least two members. Teams are called upon to present one of the parties (Applicant or Respondent) in the moot proceedings governed by the Rules of Procedure of the International Court of Justice. English is the language of both oral and written proceedings.
The case for the competition will be open in June at the official Internet site of the Competition. This year’s case concerns nuclear issues.
The winners of the European Rounds (two teams - Applicant and Respondent) will be invited to take part in the International Rounds of the Competition in mid-March 2012.
We hope to see your students with us this upcoming season and we are looking forwards to your answer!
We will also be glad to hear from teachers, post-grads, legal specialists in the field of international environmental law who are interested in participating as judges.
Thank you for support,
