December 19th (old style) 2015 will mark the one hundredth anniversary of the opening of the legendary “Last Futurist Exhibition of paintings: 0.10”, which showcased Kazimir Malevich’s “Black Suprematist Square” for the first time and marked the moment when Suprematism was declared a new movement in art.

The objective of the exhibition is to show the graphic heritage of Malevich and his circle of artists from works stored in the Tretyakov Gallery and to explain how the experiments of the leading masters of the Russian avant-garde preceded the appearance of Suprematism, and also exactly how this movement developed under his influence.

2) Valentin Serov. An exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of his birthopen 7 October 2015 – 17 January 2016

Krymsky Val, 10, Halls 60-62, 80-82

Valentin Serov (1865-1911) combined elements of the Russian school of realism with the legacy of classical and innovative contemporary Western European painting. He became one of the founders of Art Nouveau in Russia at the turn of the century.

This retrospective of Serov’s best paintings and drawings will be located on three floors of the gallery. The exhibition will help to showcase the great variety of the master's creative heritage, not only through his famous portraits, but also with his landscape paintings and monumental art, which have previously been gradually neglected by researchers.

We intend to exhibit the artist’s theatrical works connected with the production of the opera “Judith” by the well known composer Alexander Serov (the artist's father), and his design for the magnificent curtain for a production of Rimsky-Korsakov's ballet “Scheherazade” for the Russian Seasons by Sergei Diaghilev.

The exhibition consists of works from eighteen Russian and five foreign museums and private collections.

3) Metageography. Space - Image - Action. Special project of the 6th Moscow Biennale of the Contemporary Artopen 25 September 2015 – 7 February 2016

Krymsky Val, 10, Hall 39-42

In the late 1960s when air travel was commonplace and the first photos of the Earth from space appeared, perceptions of time and space underwent a radical revision. In the present day, the process of globalization is leading to a whole new experience – the modeling and representation of empty space. The exhibition will bring together the experience of art historians, geographers and artists from three generations from the 1960s to the 2000s.
